Sakura Sakura
(Cherry Blossoms) An old Japanse song, arranged by Maiko ChibaAudio tape(MP3) Premiere performance by Japanese Choral Society of Washington
with Kimiko Shimada, soprano solo, April, 2009
Sakura Sakura, as far as the eye can see,
Though springtime skies may be misty and cloudy, the cherry blossoms are aglow.
Let us go and feast our eyes on them?
(English translation by Reiko and Hugh Young)
In addition to the theme music of "Sakura Sakura", Dr. Chiba's 2008 arrangement,
originally written for the JCSW, consists of four variations.
Her rendition takes you into a fantasy world, looking at cherry blossoms swaying in the breeze,
from which you return to reality. For information on the music, please contact us at: JCSWmail@gmail.com.

"I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the choral group for the amazing performance. I am still receiving compliments about your group, and how beautiful the music and performance was that evening. I was also very moved by the beauty and purity of your performance, as well as the enthusiasm that each of your members showed our audience during the show. It is always a delight to work with a group who truly enjoys what they do.
